Hello all,

What a great day we had the the first Willy Howe BBQ and Fly In. Thanks to all who attended and thanks to the Scarborough modellers who came along to take part.

Here are a few photos from the day.

In April Issue 99 of Bmfa News Editorial Highlights the suggested governments budget cuts includes the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

A petitions website is available to register http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/BBMFCuts/

In view of the current financial difficulties the BBMF needs support in maintaining and flying these historic aeroplanes,

not only for current generation, biut also for future generations.

PLEASE SUPPORT.

Willy Howe Model Flying Club Caravan

Dear Club Members

After 23 years on the site – most of that time with a club caravan – we have been lucky in that we have had no real trouble with intruders.

Unfortunately, of late, we have been targeted by youths who seem to be arriving at unsocial hours and using the Caravan for drinking staggering amounts of beer, plus some evidence of cannabis use.
I arrived down the site at 9 am Sunday 25th October hoping to catch one or more overnight stayers (however, there is no evidence to suggest they have been) and to clean up.
The interior looked pretty dire, but a closer examination revealed no damage caused by these people (please see attached “before” and “after” pictures).
It was relatively easy to black bag all the rubbish, unblock and bleach/scrub the sink, (this removed the smell) sweep up then polish all the surfaces such as tables and sideboards to restore the hut to what it has always been. The only other new damage was the mice making the usual winter inroads.
The point being, is that we must do all we can to discourage these unwanted visitors by adopting the following suggestions:-
•   Informing the Police (done via Red Skelton and Colin)
•   Informing the landowner (done)
•   Making  unscheduled visits at odd hours to try to catch them on site and at least disturb them repeatedly
•   Make note of, or take mobile photos of any unknown vehicle make/model and registration number seen on site or attempting to drive in
•   Without taking any confrontational risks, try to identify any persons who might be local
One final point is that these people drive their vehicles directly over the landing strips, thus partially undoing all the good work done by Dave Bradley to give us all a superb site.

Please do all you can to help……………

Trevor Pickering (Chairman)
